This is Nikita from Brick.

Brick was designed to be a simple, subscription-free app from the get-go.

But when GPT-4 came out in March 2023, we couldn't resist the temptation to add small but useful AI helpers.

And so AI breakdowns were born. But those additional costs simply left us no choice but to introduce subscriptions.

The good news?

AI costs fell by well over 90% in less than 1.5 years and this means we can finally go back to the initial plan (without going broke =). Here's what we did over the past few months:

  • Drastically increased the quality for our AI powers (which now include breakdowns, task descriptions and Mistake AvoiderAND increased speed at least 5x for near-instant responses

A GIF showing a task being broken down with Brick AI in mere 2-3 seconds

Who doesn't want a diaper business? And FAST!

  • Killed all AI usage caps for paid users and doubled them for free users

  • Removed subscriptions entirely

As a result, we now have much more powerful planning helpers with a single simple pay-once-use-forever paid tier in Brick.

And because we want everyone to give the new goodies a go, we're also offering 7 days of Brick Stack for absolutely free (without automatically charging you at the end).

All in all, we think these changes are a much-needed step toward the vision we've held dear to our hearts all along:

A simple, genuinely-distraction-free solo planning app with small but actually-useful AI features that are there when you need help and get out of the way when you don't.

All those goodies are live right now and available on the app stores.

Enjoy!
